Become a Holy Trinity Bell Ringer!

If you are looking for a new hobby to begin in the New Year, consider becoming a bell ringer at Holy Trinity Church.

The bell ringers are looking for new members to join their team – the experienced team are happy to help newcomers. Practice is Tuesday nights 7.45-9pm. You don’t need to attend Church to join; it’s open to everyone and it’s free.

It can take months to learn to handle a bell, but once you have managed the basics you can start to lean the tunes (known as Methods). Bell ringers come in all shapes and sizes; it’s a hobby suitable for any age from teenagers upwards. At Nailsea Church you also need to be able to manage the short spiral staircase to the ringing chamber. There are six bells at Holy Trinity, with the heaviest weighing in at 11cwt.

Once you have learnt the basics, you would be welcome to ring for Sunday services and the occasional wedding (for which you get paid). There are opportunities to ring at other local Churches throughout the week, so if Tuesdays do not suit you, look into ringing elsewhere. If you are interested, either turn up on a Tuesday night to see the ringing in action or get in contact.
